BrewDog Released a "Lord of the Rings" Beer and I Can't Wait to Taste It

When a movie franchise such as The Lord of the Rings inspires a spinoff television series, it opens up the fictional world in such a way that fans can dive deeper into the story, immersing themselves fully in the fabled second age of Middle Earth’s history. And with Amazon’s recent hit The Rings of Power, fans get that and more with the setting taking place thousands of years before the events of both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

While fans of the series have been captivated weekly by the happening of Middle Earth, BrewDog has been working hard on a limited-edition IPA to pair perfectly with the series, and they’re calling it the Fellowship IPA.

Brewed with oats and wheat and left unfiltered (much like the show), the new 5-percent ABV beer is a hazy India pale ale with notes of stone fruit, pineapples, mango, and a touch of tangerine. Positioning itself as the one IPA to rule them all, the new sip was made in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and is available now in 6-packs of 12-ounce cans.

“At BrewDog, we’re huge fans of The Lord of the Rings, we actually lost count when asking how many people at the brewery had seen the films,” shared BrewDog head brewer, Steve McMillen, when asked about the collaboration. “When the opportunity to partner with Warner Bros. Consumer Products came up, the team instantly started mapping out how we could make a beer worthy of Middle Earth.”

If the new IPA sounds like your type of drink, you can find out where to pick up a pack using BrewDog’s beer finder. And while you get prepared for this week’s episode, you can pair the new Fellowship IPA with this delicious beer cheese recipe — which goes perfectly with soft pretzel bites — or these beer and cheese fondue nachos that will most likely keep your guests from wanting to leave.
